Exclusive to Mighty Ape! Win a Framed Print!

By Stacey

Calling all fans of film art, New Zealand History or Landscape Photography!

We have an exclusive prize for one lucky monkey who places a pre-order for Seasons of Erewhon – A beautiful framed print from the book.

Nestled within the majestic Southern Alps, and neighbouring the equally historic Mesopotamia and Mount Potts stations, Lord of the Rings fans will recognise this fabled New Zealand high country as the backdrop for The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers. The legendary Erewhon Station is a 13,500-hectare property at the headwaters of the Rangitata River, Canterbury.

Erewhon is a place with a strong respect for the past, its forebears and the way they eked an honest living from the land, working with the weather and rivers. With no beginning and no end, the cycle of life in the high country continues as it always has. These soaring mountains and cavernous valleys look the same as when explorers trekked on horseback 150 years ago – only the seasons change.

Erewhon is New Zealand's true home of the working horse, and a station that brings its past into the present – most ‘tractor work’ is done with a team of Clydesdales and all stock work, including the traditional autumn muster, is carried out on horseback or on foot.

Seasons of Erewhon at once captures the spirit of history as well as the distinctive story of enterprise and isolation. Photographer David Hallett captures the harsh land throughout the seasons, capturing the station's wild, dramatic and ever-changing natural environment.

When you pre-order this book you will automatically be entered into the draw to win the print.

Good lucky monkeys!
