With no beginning and no end, the cycle of life in the high country continues as it always has. These soaring mountains and cavernous valleys look the same as when explorers trekked on horseback 150 years ago – only the seasons change.

Erewhon is New Zealand's true home of the working horse, and a station that brings its past into the present – most ‘tractor work’ is done with a team of Clydesdales and all stock work, including the traditional autumn muster, is carried out on horseback or on foot.
