Description

British stockbroker Nicholas Winton visits Czechoslovakia in the 1930s and forms plans to assist in the rescue of Jewish children before the onset of World War II, in an operation that came to be known as the Kindertransport.

This 2023 British biographical drama was based on the true story of British humanitarian Sir Nicholas Winton who helped groups of Jewish children in German-occupied Czechoslovakia flee just before the beginning of World War II.

Critics Reviews:

  • “We don’t get many movies of this sort in today’s climate so, although One Life isn’t the best thing to come along thus far in 2024, its arrival is nevertheless welcome.” – James Berardinelli (ReelViews)
  • ““One Life” is a slow burn, slowly establishing Winton’s modest character as a younger and older man, but when it cracks open, it is a deeply moving portrait of true human goodness.” – Katie Walsh (Tribune News Service)
  • “As we continue to grapple with today’s issues of war, refugee crisis and growing antisemitism, the film’s relevance is so troubling that you cannot fail to be moved by it.” – Rex Reed (Observer)
