Great knives. They're lightweight and exceptionally sharp. Beware your fingers if your old knives were as blunt as mine. Ideal if you're thinking of changing profession and becoming a saboteur!
I am a huge fan of Zyliss knife sets which are usually razor sharp but I already had a set in storage so I decided to try these. I most happy with the paring knife, nice and short non serrated blade, all purpose knife is ok. So called chefs knife is my favourite but most disappointing, has perfect balance -you can balance it on your index figure but needs a extra 1cm width towards the back 1/3 of blade as knuckles touch chopping board. I would call it a general purpose knife, it wouldn't be my first choice for chopping on the chopping the board, it's certainly no where near a santoku or even close to a chef's knife, more of a slicer. Also on first inspection the tang looks super-weak, but seems strong due to grey plastic reinforcing which also helps grip when fine chopping/dicing using thumb and forefinger to grip to make the last 1/3 of blade usable. They have a 20 year guarantee but good luck dealing with a UK company. The grips are far fatter than Zyliss, better hold and grip but Zyliss come with plastic shealths/guards and have handles that are easy to see bright colours not black overall, I wouldn't want to be drunk, digging around the knife draw, I'll be investing in a magnetic knife holder otherwise I'd have to nickname them scratchy, bitey, and slicey. The packaging is trick, has magnetic fastening, with the fancy pants name this set would make a good gift. If I paid full price from Mighty Ape I'd only give the set 3 stars I could't justify the difference in price compared to the Zyliss but on sale they're the same $. Over all they are good knives.
